Ron's script was discovered through the Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition as a semi-finalist and picked up by New Regency for a full theatrical release across the United States in April 1999. The film features a star-studded ensemble and marked Ron's Hollywood debut as a produced screenwriter.

Donuts with Jerry

Ron won the prestigious Kairos Pro Prize at the Movieguide Awards in Los Angeles in February 2017 for his original screenplay Donuts with Jerry. The story follows a charming stranger who becomes stranded in a small town at Christmas time and transforms the divisive community through the power of love — and donuts. The screenplay later inspired Ron's novel O Little Town of Donuts.
